Gradings

• Gradings (for Kyu-belt ranks – coloured belts) are conducted every 4 months.

• Black belt gradings are conducted annually.

• Students must attend 80% of lessons before undertaking a grading.

• All fees must be paid up to date before grading.

Dojo (training area) Rules

• Be on time for training.

• NO jewelry or watches allowed.

• BYO water bottle.

• Bow when entering or leaving the Dojo

• No eating, drinking, chewing gum on mat.

• Mitts & karate gi (uniform) must be clean.

• Finger & toe nails must be clean and s hort.

• Address the instructor/s as ‘Sensei’.

• Inform Sensei, if you have an injury or are feeling unwell, before or during training.

• Ask permission if you need to leave the Dojo during training.

• Shoes must be worn in toilets.

• Don’t do or say things that could harm your fellow karateka (students) or Funakoshi Karate.

• Learn, understand & practice the five karate maxims: character, effort, etiquette, self control & sincerity.

• Never use karate to harm someone. Self-defence is a last resort.

Fees/Costs

Training fees

• Single: $70 per month

• 2 family members: $109 per month

• 3 plus family members: $143 per month

Note: There is karate training during one week of each school holiday, with one week off (except Dec/Jan when 4 weeks are taken off)

Compulsory Annual Affiliation/Membership and Personal Accident Insurance:

$67.50 (total per member)
