These Terms & Conditions apply to all members of Northland BJJ. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge and accept all policies outlined below.

1. Reception & Access

Members must sign in prior to each class via the administration system
Access is permitted only during scheduled class times unless otherwise authorised

2. Membership Payments

Membership fees are charged weekly and remain payable regardless of attendance
Members are responsible for keeping contact and payment details current
Northland BJJ is not responsible for fees incurred due to expired or declined cards

Membership Value

Membership at Northland BJJ secures a place within a structured training programme and contributes to maintaining safe class sizes, qualified coaching, and a high-quality training environment for all members.

3. Failed Payments

If a scheduled payment fails, Northland BJJ reserves the right to:

Charge an administration fee
Reattempt to process the failed payment at any time using the payment details provided
Suspend training access until payments are up to date
Refer outstanding balances to a collection agency where necessary

Members are responsible for ensuring sufficient funds are available. Any fees incurred may be added to the member’s account.

4. Minimum Membership Term

All standard memberships are subject to a minimum commitment period of 12 months from the membership start date.

Mini Campeãos (Ages 2–4 Years)

Memberships for students aged 2–4 years are subject to a minimum commitment period of three (3) months. This shorter term supports consistency, routine, and confidence for young children while allowing families flexibility at an early age.

Cancellations within the applicable minimum term are not permitted except in cases of:

Permanent medical disability (medical certificate required)
Relocation more than 30km from Northland BJJ (proof may be required)

Northland BJJ reserves the right to approve early termination at its discretion.

Early cancellation within the minimum term may incur a fee equal to six (6) weeks of the member’s current weekly rate.

This fee covers administrative costs and the structured class placement secured for the member.

5. Membership Suspensions (Holds)

Requests must be submitted in writing at least 7 days before billing
Suspensions cannot be backdated
Minimum suspension block is 1 week
Maximum of 2 complimentary weeks per calendar year
Not permitted within the first 12 weeks of membership
Medical suspensions require a certificate

This policy protects class structure and student progression.

6. Cancellation

• 30 days’ written notice is required

• Membership remains active and payable during the notice period

• Verbal cancellations are not accepted

Rejoining After Cancellation

Members who cancel and later wish to return may be subject to current membership rates and availability of class spaces.

7. Programme Commitment Philosophy

Northland BJJ is a structured development academy, not a casual drop-in facility. Our programmes are designed to help students build confidence, resilience, and skill over time through consistent training. Ongoing participation supports individual progress and strengthens the team environment that makes our academy successful.

8. Class Placement & Progression Commitment

Northland BJJ operates structured classes designed to support safe skill development and student confidence.

To maintain a student’s place in their designated class, memberships must remain active and in good standing. Extended absences, repeated suspensions, or frequent cancellations may result in a review of class placement, as spaces are limited and structured to ensure the best training experience for all members.
Consistent attendance is strongly encouraged, as regular participation plays an important role in progression, confidence, and overall success in training.

9. Consistency & Development

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts are long-term disciplines. Progress is built through regular attendance and ongoing involvement. Members who train consistently typically see greater improvements in skill, confidence, and overall fitness.
Our coaching structure and class balance are designed around committed members who are part of the programme, not short-term participants.

10. Conduct & Behaviour

Members must treat staff and fellow students with respect. Unsafe, abusive, or disruptive behaviour may result in suspension or termination.

11. Class Participation

Late arrivals must ask permission before joining
Members must inform coaches before leaving early
Students must remain off mats unless training

12. Youth Class Commitment

Youth memberships secure a place in structured classes. Consistent attendance supports skill development and class balance.

Youth Development Pathway

Youth programmes follow a progressive pathway designed to build discipline, confidence, and technical ability over time. Consistent participation helps children feel comfortable, build friendships, and gain the full benefit of training. Frequent breaks in training can interrupt a child’s progress and confidence.

13. Grading & Promotion

No grading fees are charged
Belts must be purchased by the member upon promotion
Promotions are based on attendance, skill, attitude, and coach discretion
Time alone does not guarantee promotion

14. Hygiene & Health

Clean gear and good hygiene required

Nails must be trimmed

No training with contagious conditions

Coaches may refuse participation for health reasons

15. Uniform Requirements

Official academy uniform required.
Members must also bring footwear and a drink bottle.

16. Spectators & Parents

No spectators on training mats
Children must be supervised outside class
Northland BJJ not responsible for children outside training time

17. Academy Community

Northland BJJ is built on teamwork, respect, and long-term growth. Members are encouraged to support one another, train consistently, and contribute positively to the academy culture.
A strong community is a key part of the Northland BJJ experience.

18. Statutory Holidays

Northland BJJ is closed on all New Zealand statutory/public holidays. Memberships remain active during these closures, and missed classes are not refundable, transferable, or credited.

19. Additional Fees

Events, equipment, or special services may incur extra charges.

20. Damages

Members are responsible for damage caused to the facility or property.

21. Closures Beyond Control

Northland BJJ is not liable for closures due to events beyond our control.

22. Policy & Schedule Changes

Northland BJJ may update policies and schedules as needed.

23. Membership Fee Adjustments

Fees may be adjusted with reasonable notice.

24. Breach of Terms

Breach of terms may result in suspension or termination without refund.

25. Legacy Membership Rates

Legacy rates are discretionary and may be moved to standard pricing with 30 days’ notice.
